Caspers Race Instructions Email Sent on 9/15/21:
Hello Caspers 12K and 30K Runners and Hikers,
We're looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday morning for a nice 12K and 30K run at Caspers. The following information will help you prepare for race day. All runners, but especially 30K runners, PLEASE carry hydration and refueling supplies.
RACE LOCATION AND PARKING
It will be warm and you must carry your own water and supplies. You can refill and refuel at aid stations; course monitors can also assist. Aid stations will have water, Gatorade, Humagel, Honey Stinger, Salt Tabs, Hyland's, and Pickle Juice.
The back country of Caspers Wilderness Park has rocky terrain, sand, creek crossings, long stretches of fire road, challenging hills from the canyon to the ridge, and wildlife. The 30K course time limit is 6 hours; 19-20 min/mile. The 12K course is within the 30K, so there is plenty of time to finish given the timing of the 30K.
Dogs are not allowed anywhere in the park, nor are strollers allowed on the course. Take a look at the course maps, elevation, and GPXs file through the link below.
See you on Saturday.
Happy trails,
Jeri and the Rock it Racing Team

We're looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday morning for a nice 12K and 30K run at Caspers. The following information will help you prepare for race day. All runners, but especially 30K runners, PLEASE carry hydration and refueling supplies.
RACE LOCATION AND PARKING
- The events are at Caspers Wilderness Park in the Old Corral area. See map here. It's about a 5 minute drive from the park entrance to race location.
- It's $5 to enter the park unless you have an OC Parks annual parking pass. We will collect payment of $5 per vehicle when you park, not when you enter. To expedite entry and avoid a backup on Ortega Highway, the gate attendant will let all race participants drive through and pay when they park. Do not bring your dog. No dogs allowed in the park and they won't let you in with a dog in the car.
- The entry gate WILL NOT BE OPEN until 7:00 or maybe a little before then, so please do not arrive early. If a lot of cars arrive early, they will back up onto Ortega Highway creating unsafe conditions on that two lane road.
- Carpooling is always a great option, so PLEASE CARPOOL if you can!
- If you need a place to store your bag during the race, you can leave it with us at the registration table. We'll have a bag-check box there.
- Race day bib pick up: 7:05 AM
- 30K Start: 8:00 AM (subject to change pending runner check-in)
- 12K Start: 8:30 AM
- 12K Top Three Awards: 10:30 AM
- 30K Top Three Awards: Noon
- Age group winners can pick up awards from the award table

- 12K: One aid station at 4.5 miles plus course monitors throughout.
- 30K: Four aid stations at approximately miles 4.5, 7.7, 12.5, and 16.8, plus course monitors throughout. Please plan to refill and refuel completely at the mile 12.5 aid station before you head up Oso. It's a long lonely climb and it will be warm out.
- There is a bathroom at the 7.7 mile aid station on the 30K course.
